hillside waterfront hotel

As you may know by looking at my website, Door County Wisconsin is one of my very favorite places. The Hillside Waterfront Hotel is a staple in Ephraim’s ‘skyline’ and I have grown up watching it morph and transform as the years went on. The iconic red roof can be seen from any spot in the bay, and you can always pick it out by the expansive steps.

I decided to try my hand at designing a brand system for this iconic Ephraim hotel by elevating the elements that make their brand special. This is purely a fun project, not intended for used by the Hillside Waterfront Hotel. I wanted to keep the same classic, elegant feel of the current branding and add a modern twist.

The colors are taken from right from the hotel, keeping the same overall color palette of a dark fern and golden rod. I added a light sky blue and muted red-orange to commemorate the iconic roof. Keeping with the same shape of the original logo, I elevated the shape of the ‘H’ and logo mark to modernize the feel.

I hope you enjoy my take on the Hillside Waterfront Hotel branding, this was a very fun project to imagine what I would do to help this special Door County Hotel.
